ResinAntics FAQ’s and Facts
The Facts:
ResinAntics Forum was opened on December 29, 2012. It remained "unofficially private" with administrators dramadoll and luluna the only members for several weeks, until our first member “found” us and joined in mid-February, 2013.
Forum Administrators are luluna and dramadoll. Either admin can help you if you have questions that you can’t get answered elsewhere on the forum. Currently there are no moderators or other administrators.
The Ad-Free fees are paid by administration and always have been, This is our gift to our valued members. Please enjoy the advertisement-free experience – on us!
Banners change around once a month, sometimes more often. Although usually we like them to reflect an on-going theme, sometimes they are just random! Banners appearing on the forum are "archived" by date of appearance in a sticky on the General Board.
Navigating the Forum:
The best way to get to know where things are located is by simply looking around. Once you are registered, you have free access to all 'members only' sections of the forum. Additionally, there are brief descriptions of each board's or section's content beneath its title, and many boards contain introductory stickies to help guide you in using them.
Recent Additions:
The Visage and Vision: a Showcase of Dolls by Sculpt sub-board was opened on January 14, 2014. The idea was suggested by member jincincy, to whom we are most grateful. Dramadoll developed and maintains the index for this section; feel free to inquire or notify her (me) if you notice something amiss with the index.
The Essential Extras sub-board, another much-appreciated brain-child of jincincy, opened on August 16, 2014. It’s a super-handy database for showcasing and researching wigs and eyes. Dramadoll developed and maintains the index for this section; feel free to inquire or notify her (me) if you notice something amiss with the index.
How Did You DO That? - A board for tutorials related to the hobby in general was added recently, but I neglected to do an introduction so I don't remember exactly when it was developed. Some of the tutorials and questions were moved there after its start-up, and are older than the section itself.
FAQ's
How can I become a member of ResinAntics forum?
If you're reading this, you've already found our main address on the web: resinantics.proboards.com. Simply click the Registration link and follow the steps given. All registrations are on an approval basis. If your membership is not promptly approved, that is, within 24 hours, please post to the General Board to gain admin's attention. If you are approved, you should receive an automatically generated email telling you so.
My registration was approved. Now what do I do?
If you have not already, please read the introduction and "rules" on the sticky thread entitled Welcome Message and Forum Guidelines. It appears at the top of the General Board and the How To Use This Forum Board.
After that, you can browse, read, and share wherever and whenever you wish. For the most general sharing and discussion-like threads, you may want to start with a look at the General Board and/or the Person-to-Person Board.
Can I invite a friend to join?
For many reasons, we prefer to keep our membership small and relatively close-knit. If you have a friend in the hobby who you think would enjoy the forum, and whose interests, level of maturity and values seem to align with most of us here, please PM an administrator to inquire about inviting them to join.
Why didn't I find you a long time ago?
We keep to ourselves, adding new members mainly by word of mouth, rather than by listings on search engines and such. In such a way, we can feel like we "know" each and every one of our members, and trust them accordingly. So far, this has worked wonderfully well, better than we ever imagined.
Where do I post NDR (non-doll-related) chat?
We actually don't do a lot of that on ResinAntics, although it's not forbidden. Please use the General Board for any off-topic posts.
Do I need to label my posts with Not-Kid-Safe or Not-Work-Safe?
In a word, no, although you certainly may do so if you choose. Everyone's comfort level concerning (doll) nudity and mildly explicit language or subject matter differs. Occasionally content may not be "kid-safe" and if you are particularly sensitive, it may be more often than occasionally. We make no guarantees that such threads will be labeled, so please read with caution if this is of concern to you.
You have too many sections! What if I post in the wrong section?
There are no consequences for posting in the "wrong" section, and it's extremely unlikely that anyone will call you on it (or even notice.) If you ask a question or expect a lot of feedback, you may get a little less attention, that's all. Or maybe not.
If you start a thread and later feel that it belongs elsewhere and you would like it moved, admin will be happy to help. Just send one of us an email or PM.
Occasionally, an administrator may ask you if they can move your post to a different location, but this is not a common occurrence, and absolutely no offense is intended. If your thread is singled out this way, it's probably because we feel it's a valuable addition and we want the maximum exposure for it. Again, this happens only rarely.
Can I post a story?
Yes, please do! If it's a story meant to be on-going, the Serial Tellers Section is the place for it. If it's a stand-alone story, Solitaire is your best destination. And please, feel free to flesh out your character in the Identification, Please section if you like.
How much or how often do I have to participate?
This is actually a very important question. When I set up this forum, I made a promise to myself and our first members to be completely open to any level of participation on our members' part. Since the beginning, some have participated daily, some a few times a week, and others less often than that. We have members who have never (openly) participated, except perhaps, by lurking or doing research in the databases. And it's all okay. We want you to be able to relax here, and have fun. Being pressured to participate is not fun.
Since we don't have a Marketplace, we don't need to concern ourselves with whether or not you are only "using" the forum to sell your wares. And since luluna and I are happy to keep running things ourselves, we're not going to press anyone into service, willing or unwilling, to help with that - there isn't all that much to do, anyway.
We hope to encourage participation by having a lot of high-interest, high quality content, but we will never, ever demand it.
Why don't you have a marketplace, selling section, etc.?
There are a lot of reasons, but eliminating the related drama of running a marketplace is maybe the most important. Besides, we are small... tiny, even. There just isn't a huge market among our members, and as far as we can tell, all of our members are active someplace else that does have a marketplace.
We do allow for a certain amount of indirect selling, however, and have recently relaxed our rules a bit. Please read the (new) guidelines and feel free to PM an administrator if you have questions.
