How to Get Email Notifications for Private Messages I just recently figured this one out, so I though I’d pass it along to members. Hopefully it won’t be different once the forum software gets upgraded.
If you would like to be emailed whenever there is a private message (PM) sent to you via ResinAntics, this is how you set it up:
* Go to your Private Messages page. You can click on the link to the right of the banner or the very tiny one near the bottom of the page.
* At the top and on the far right of your inbox, click Preferences.
* Under Notification - Do you wish to have an email sent to you when a Personal Message is received? Choose Yes from the drop down.
* If you would also like an alert box to appear when you visit the forum, select Yes under that option as well.
* Click Save Preferences, which will take you back to your inbox.
That’s all there is to it!

What exactly is an 'alert box'? And where does it show up? I'm a low tech admin huh?

It's a popup box that appears on top of the page you're on. It notifies you when you visit/log in to the forum, that you have a PM waiting. There is a button you can click in the popup that will send you directly to the message.
In the case of more than one waiting message, I assume it takes you to the first one. I'd have to test it to be sure.
DoA has a similar feature that I use - but it's optional so not everyone does.

I set mine to pop up here, but I might go back and disable it. It's a bit of overkill when I already get email messages and often see a note about at the top of the page anyway. And they can be annoying....
