Welcome to ResinAntics!
We are a small forum, and that’s intentional.
It is my hope to keep the forum small at least into the near future, since I think we have a better chance of staying positive, friendly and drama-free with smaller numbers. Optimally, I would like to feel I “know” and trust everyone who is an active part of this forum, and hope you feel you can know and trust me as well. Even though I spend a lot of time online, I’m not a super-hero, so I can only do that if we are small, and/or grow slowly.
In browsing around the forum, you may have noticed the heavy emphasis on stories; writing, telling, photographing, etc.
This also is intentional.
Stories are the main focus (but not the only focus) for the forum owners, and our desire is to create a space where story-telling is somewhat of a priority.
However, if you are not a “story person,” please don’t let that discourage you from joining or participating! Yes, we love sharing and hearing commentary on our stories, and love knowing others are reading, but we also love the day-to-day chat and BJD-related discussion that frequently abounds in this hobby. And like most of the doll owners I know, we love looking at pictures of your gorgeous, precious resins, and sharing your joy when a new one comes home.
We have found that participating in the more spontaneous and general-interest areas rounds things out beautifully.
If you do not consider yourself a “story person,” you may still be interested in exploring the development of your characters. Members here will be delighted to have the opportunity to get to know your unique doll characters, through discussion or interaction, whether or not they have a story to tell.
So no matter which kind of collector and member you are, welcome!
Rules for Conduct:
~~No flaming
~~No derogatory comments, about other members, doll companies, or basically, anything else.
~~If you have any issues with something you see on the board, please PM either administrator (luluna or dramadoll) and let us make an attempt at a resolution before taking matters into your own hands.
~~Treat others the way you would like to be treated. Be kind, supportive, and pleasant. If you cannot be kind, supportive and pleasant, please re-consider carefully before posting. Overtly negative posts will be removed after one request to the original poster to edit.
~~Limit NDR (not doll related) posts to the general board, and keep it positive, clean, not-too-personal, and interesting.
Sales and Selling:
We are not going to provide an official marketplace or selling section on the forum. However, you may see or make occasional references to reputable vendors or your own hand-made items as long as it is not a targeted, specific sales notice.
A link in your signature to your off-site sales/shop (Etsy, etc.) is absolutely fine.
NEW!!!
The UN-Marketplace
After long and careful deliberation, admin has decided we would like to set aside a place for our members who are also talented artists to show their works and provide information on sales and commissions. This will not be a marketplace, but rather an informational "bulletin board" from which members may contact each other to conduct transactions off-site. If you choose to put up a commission thread, please state clearly on your thread how members may contact you, including links to your own site or commission/sales posts on another board.
In addition, this section will contain a single "Heads-Up" thread that may be used when any member is selling, or about to sell, items such as dolls, hard-to-find outfits, wigs or accessories, etc., off-site or on other sites. Threads should be kept low-key, brief and strictly informational, and contact information needs to be provided. This will be a shared thread, so you will not be able to conduct business on the thread itself or "bump" it up for better exposure. When your item(s) is/are sold or no longer available for any reason, please edit your thread, marking it for deletion by admin. The Heads-Up thread will be the one area of the forum that will be culled as needed, to keep it relevant.
The Member Ventures Commission Threads: Purpose and Guidelines
The main purposes of this board are:
To provide a valuable service to members, allowing ease of access to our artists' works
To provide a venue for our artists, to help them relay information about their works, and inform other members about what they can offer to meet their BJD needs and wishes.
Guidelines for Participation:
• Commission threads may be posted and viewed by members only.
• Commission threads must contain clear information regarding how someone wishing to commission one of your works may contact you, off site, and arrange for a commission.
• Replies by thread "owners" are permitted and encouraged, to add subsequent offerings, or for those who have a lot to offer and need more room than the original post provides.
• Replies by other members such as clarification questions, etc. may be posted as needed.
• Please do not conduct your business on the commission threads, or any other public place on the forum. This applies to seeking feedback or references as well.... all such requests are to be done off-site.
• Commission threads may also display in-stock, already-made merchandise, as long as it is:
1. made by you, and
2. all business is conducted off-site
Sub-Boards and Sub Sections Explained:
Please note that some of the lines defining the sections and sub-sections may be a bit blurry. Don’t be concerned about making a “mistake” and posting in the “wrong” place - no one is going to call you out or embarrass you about it. However, if after posting, you would like something moved to a different location, please feel free to ask an administrator for assistance; we’ll be glad to help.
How to Use This Board: General guidelines for use of the board and a few rules and regulations for forum conduct. May also contain tutorials on certain forum functions, as requested.
General Board – this is where any miscellaneous stuff should go. While we don’t encourage off-topic posting, if your post is not doll-related, it should go here. The General Board is also a good place for General Questions and Answers. This section is viewable by anyone, member or guest.
Person-to-Person: this board is for day-to-day chat, member(s) to member(s). Although it is viewable by anyone, only members may post or reply to posts. Person-to-Person has become the “go-to” area for general doll-related discussion and photo participation that is not specifically story-related. This section is viewable by anyone, member or guest.
Character-to-Character: a place for your resins to hang out, socialize, and be themselves. This section is open only to registered members.
Serial Tellers: the place to post any on-going serial stories. Stories posted in Serial Tellers will be indexed whenever possible to allow them to be located more easily. There is a sub-section for commenting to stories, (Can We Talk?) so that the flow of the “action” can continue uninterrupted. This section is open only to registered members.
Solitaire: The place to go to post or read stand-alone stories. This section is open only to registered members.
Identification, Please: a database for brief character synopsis. This section is open only to registered members.
Historically Speaking: a database for back stories, backgrounds, world-building information, and other information related to your story line(s). This section is open only to registered members.
Workshops: The Workshop area is intended for offering and requesting help in making photo stories. Tutorials are specific to story production or its peripheral skill sets.
Casting Call: Need advice about shelling a character? Or maybe you just want to bounce your ideas off other people to see how they bounce back? This is the place for discussion of that nature. It’s also a good place to share more detailed information about a character idea in its early, formulating stages. This section is open only to registered members.
The Name Game: I considered placing this one under “Casting Call”, but I put it here on its own because so often it seems people have difficulty naming their dolls. This is the place to seek opinions and advice about a name for an incoming or upcoming character/doll. This section is viewable by anyone, member or guest.
Lights, Camera, Action! – Tutorials about photo story production and related skills. There are two sub-boards: one for photography (Worth 1000 Words) and one for assistance in locating props (Props to You!). Costuming ideas, set design and mechanics (such as posing issues) also belong here. This section is open only to registered members.
Grammar Granny: Help in using written English appropriately, for story-writing pursuits. If you never visit, that’s totally okay, no one wants to hang out here! This section is viewable by anyone, member or guest.
Contact an administrator if you have any questions or concerns.
